Lacy Labels Heart shaped box and cholate candy magnets

This weeks project on splitcoaststampers was a heart shaped box. They used some spellbinders, which I don't have, but any heart shape from any cart will do. I used the heart on Lacy Labels. For the base I used the heart at 4 inch (shadow), for the lid I used the heart at 4, both shadow and reg for layering. For the "box" I used the heart (reg) at 3 inch on the base, 3 inch (shadow) for the lid. I wanted the flourish on top to sit inside a bit so I cut it at 3.25 inch and the rose is from my rolling rose post. I skipped the hinged part of the splitcoast tutorial and did a modified version so that both top and bottom of mine have the heart box (if you do it that way, be sure to use the shadow on the upper part so it fits over the bottom part). If you need further explanation, let me know. For the inside....this is my favorite part....I made little chocolates out of fimo clay. I pitted the bottom to hold a magnet (do that before you bake them..push the magnet into the clay, take out the magnet, bake, then glue the magnet in the hole) and then put them in some Wilton candy wrappers-so these are fridge magnets but they look good enough to eat! Scraplift Sunday : Snow Day 2012

There is just something about Sundays that makes me want to scrap. This week I went to look at the latest sketch on one of my favorite scraplift sites and sadly learned that they will no longer be posting :(

Sounds like a good reason to get into my immense stash of scrapbook magazine clippings and start using them. So, here is one that has been floating around my desk for over a year (that it never got tossed with the scraps is a miracle), it is from a Stampin Up magazine from a couple years ago. My take on it is above. The Brrr and hat are from Winter woodland, the mittens and background paper are Echo Park, the felt snowflake border is I think Queen and Co -I also used it on my new blog header :)

Welcome Daisy scrap page and another personalized shopping bag

I love this photo of the boys and their new dog. She is a 2 year old golden retriever/lab/who knows what else and a delight to have in our family. I love that I can finally do some scrapping with flowers and girly things! This sketch was done for this weeks Sketchy Thursdays challenge. The papers are DCWV (Fall Stack 2011), the title is from Straight from the nest (welcome) and Mickey and Friends (Daisy). The flower I cut from the file on my last Gerbera Daisy post . For the center of the flower I used some Crystal Effects sprinkled with some dazzling diamonds. The heart I just cut by hand because in all my carts I couldn't find a heart the right shape to fit the journal card I was trying to use.

Second today is another personalized tote. This one I used iron on vinyl, which doesn't iron on so well to canvas, you really have to use the tip of the iron to melt and smash it into the canvas waffle weave. The shape and letters are from Wall Decore and More.

Happy New Year! 2012 goals scrapbook page

I don't usually do the New Years resolution thing, but this year I have a few goals that I thought would be good to get in writing. I made a 12 x12 page and plan to use one of my scrapbook frames to post it where I can see it to remind myself where I'm going. I used Fresh Floral Stack for the papers, and the cuts are from Lacy labels and Wall decor and more.

Our first Cricut cake and some more shopping bags to share

The cricut cake was recently on sale for $29.95 and free ship - too good a deal to pass up for this cake loving family. The boys and I made out first one for Christmas. We made marshmallow fondant (we found the recipe on the internet, it was pretty easy to make). We cut the shapes from Christmas Cheer. The boys went a little crazy on the sprinkles. Yeah, we need a bit of practice, but the cake was still yummy.

My big holiday projects were personalized 100% cotton shopping bags. I bought a bunch of blank ones from a friend (she works at a print screening place). They are nice quality bags and a good size for groceries or whatever. I used contact paper to make stencils then used acrylic paint (2 parts acrylic paint, one part fabric treatment which is sold in the acrylic paint section). I was not super happy with the way the acrylic paint, I definitely like the iron on vinyl better, but the cost difference is BIG. If I would have done vinyl, the bags would have just been too pricey.

Altered Altoid tin gift card holder

Did you know that Altoids tins are the same size as gift cards? They make great little holders for them and are fun to alter. I made this one for my MIL for Christmas (and so I could enter the Cooking with the Cricut holiday floral challenge). is at 2 inch from Joys of the season, the label is from Lacy labels (1.75 inch outside, 1.5 inch inside), paper is echo park and stamps are Stampin Up.

The tins have writing on the sides, but you can easily cover with a small strip of coordinating paper, ribbon, or sand it off.

***One little note*** They really are the perfect size for the gift cards, but no room to get your fingers in to grab the card. Be sure to tie a ribbon around your gift card so the recipient can have some way to pull it out - looks prettier that way anyway!

Hand Sanitizer 4 pack gift and tutorial

I wanted to dress up some hand sanitizers for the teacher with a cute little pack. I sat down at my crafting table come up with some cleaver cutting file, but then realized that the best size is 12 inch and the quickest and easiest method doesn't require a cricut, just a paper cutter and scoring tool, so no free file today but I do have a tutorial. You can make 2 from one 12 x 12 and the hand sanitizers are 5 for $5 at Bath and Body Works. For mine I used Echo Park paper, label from Lacy labels (at 1 inch) and poinsettia from Woodland at 1.25 inch, stamp in PaperTreyInk.

Here's how you make them....
From cardstock or double sided designed paper, cut one 12 x 2 3/4 inch strip and two 1 x 6 3/4 inch strips

Score larger piece at 1 1/4, 2 1/4 and 6 inch from each end
fold to make and a frame

score smaller pieces at 1 and 2 inch from each end
fold to make belly band, secure along front and back tabs with adhesive

Holds 4 sanitizers

Now adhere two sides together. Use a punch of choice (I used the small SU oval, but three small circles in a row would work great too, or even a snowflake) to create a handle at the top and decorate. How simple is that!

MORE Holiday cards done

I think I got 10 cards done today, 5 Peace on Earth, 5 snowmen, and 2 of the Santa cards. I hoped to do a couple more but I HAD to work on the bags I'm making for Christmas, and run the vacuum, and laundry, and the kids will be home from school soon, and then there is basketball practice to take them to, then dinner, well, you get it. No more cards getting done today.

So, the first one is a Su set called Peaceful Season, I used the label from Lacy Labels at 3 inch for inside and outside, paper is echo park and Su. I love the dove that comes with the set so I used it in aqua mist (papertry ink) on the inside and the envelope and used the same ink to "water" the globe.

The second one is done with Jolly holidays at 2.75 inch, lacy label is at 3.75 and embossed with a snowflake cuttlebug folder. Santa is fluffed everywhere white with fun flock, stamps are SU. I'd like to make more of these but Santa is a bit of a pain to put together, maybe tomorrow.

The last one is a just a stamp I have had forever and never used, it has doodling around the outside, so I did some doodling with a sharpie around the card to match, which I thought turned out quite good for a quickie card.

I have 4 bags done today, 13 to go, hum. I'll post some of those tomorrow.

Todays Christmas Cards

I made several cards today, and I think I can even have them in the mail by the time the carrier gets to my box. The first one is no cricut, just some stamps (Stampin Up) inked with platnium and red inks and 3d paint. That one was inspired by Susans card Here . The next ones were done with a snowy cuttlebug folder and the deer from Christmas Noel (cut at 3 inch). The deer are completely covered in dazling diamonds and up on pop dots, so they stand out a lot more in person that on the screen. I liked the green one so much that I made 4 of them. All total I have 7 cards done and going out today, not bad!

Christmas tags

I have to admit that I have never understood making tags, since they are so cheep to buy. BUT this morning I was reading a challenge and decided to make some. THEY ARE FUN! They are quick, easy, instantly gratifying, you can use scraps, and its a reason to try all the cuts on the carts that you've wanted to do but didn't have a use for. The Santa tags will go on the boys main gift. They were done with Jolly holidays (tag at 4 inch, Santa at about 2.5), the candy cane and stockings are from Christmas cheer, and the ornament and branch are done using the tag feature on Joys of the Season (4 inch) and the glitter window technique. If you haven't yet, try making tags.

Each little box holds 3 pencils, and 3 boxes can be cut from one 12 x 12 paper. The eraser is just on the tag with a single sticky dot. File includes tag and is the freebie until my next post.

Seasons Greetings Poinsettia card and dolphin shopping bag

Oh my, is it the 7th already? I need to get cracking on some cards. Normally we do the photos for our bulk cards but this year we are doing regular cards and I just can't bare to go buy them when I have so many toys. I didn't know we weren't doing photos until Monday, so now I need to make a lot in a short time, I'll have to keep 'em fairly simple. I made 5 of the poinsettia ones this morning already. 5 is about my limit before I get bored with a design. I used Christmas noel for the flower flourish (cut at 2.75 inch) and an SU stamp. I inked the flowers with a light brown to accent the lines and edges and put the second layer on pop dots.

I also got one more bag done. This one is for my SIL, I used life's a beach for the dolphin and Wall decor and more for the waves and monogram. Thanks for looking!

More holiday vinyl on the walls and a sewing project

Snowflakes from Christmas Noel at 3 and 4 inch

I bought a bunch of sparkle vinyl on clearance last year, soooo pretty, and thought I'd put some on the walls. I made the J and Y letters 11 inches and used a berry wreath for the O. Then used the leftovers for some snowflakes. I would normally hate red snowflakes, but for some reason this year I'm seeing them all over and rather liking them. I had that mantle made flat just so I could do vinyl on it. I also had a plug put in above the mantle just for that very old tree. It was my great-great aunts and I have to keep it far away from the kids and the dog (she has a dangerous wagging tail).

My other project share is a sewing craft, which I was very happy with since I don't know how to sew or follow a pattern. We had planned to buy stools to go at the new island, but since that won't be in the budget for a bit, we are using the extra ones from the dining table. I don't want them to get messed up so I thought I would make covers. I had to wing a simple pattern. Each one only cost me about $3.50 to make, cheep enough to make one for each holiday until we can buy stools, and I can always use them in the dining room later. Thanks for looking!

My first Christmas present done, a card, and some vinyl

This year for Christmas I bought a bunch of blank cotton grocery bags to paint. The first one done is for my DH's grandfather. They live on a boat 6 months of the year, and AZ the other 6 months, so nautical was perfect for him. I used the compass and letters from Wall Decor and More. I just got this cart and I really like it. It runs about $15 on ebay with shipping, great deal for all you get. One down, MANY to go.

The second item for today is a card made with Lacy Labels, cut at 4 inch...3.75 would have been better. The stamp is from Stampin Up.

The third thing...and my favorite..is the first vinyl in my new house. Hubby and I each had a couple of must have items when we built and one of mine was these little opening in the room doorways. I had seen them in a magazine and knew they would be great for decorating. I put up my three wise men, which are just plastic, but very old and I really like them. Then below them I wrote Wise men still seek Him in Precious font. I love how it came out.

Let the December projects begin....

HAPPY DECEMBER! I have several things to share with you this week. Today I want to show you a quick countdown, a card, and a fun little project for kids.

First, a countdown for hubby's desk...I used two chipboard coasters covered with modge podge and echo park paper. I cut some holes with a crop-a-dile and added snap rings. I printed out the xx days til Christmas (cut to 2 by 3.5 inches) and used my silhouette to cut the word Christmas out of cardstock. The holly is from Joys of the season and the bingo card was from the echo park kit (seasons greetings). I loved making this and will definitely make more to give away next year.

Second is a little card for a friend, the penguin is from Jolly Holidays and the label is from lacy labels

Third is a quick project for kids. I saw this last year on the Internet and stashed away the idea for this year. Its just two candy canes wrapped with a piece of brown paper, add eyes and a punched circle nose. Very simple, but my boys love it and they will look cute hanging on the tree. Up tomorrow, some holiday decorating, and my first Christmas gift done. Thanks for looking!

I just love this little house from Jolly Holidays. I used DS to weld two together for a card liner. The stamps are Stampin up and I used stickles to highlight all the snow. The card is cut at 5.5 inches.

The craft room is starting to get organized. I've realized I just plain have too much stuff. I need to quit collecting so many "alterables" I think I will use a lot of them for Christmas wrapping this year (I have tons of tins,buckets,bags,frames,etc).

Thanksgiving Turkey paper piecing svg freebie

I've pretty much been skipping Thanksgiving this year. We have been so busy with the move that by the time I get organized and unpacked it will be time to think Christmas projects. First winter and Christmas cards of the year

My crafting space is almost unpacked. Sometimes I think its as much fun to organize craft stuff as it is to use it. I'm been downsizing and I'm determined to start using some of my goodies rather than just collecting them-especially all my "alterables". I needed to initiate the space so I made a couple of cards. The first is done with Jolly holidays, snowman is at 3.5 inches. I used pearls for buttons and a puffball for the hat, paper is DCWV and Stampin Up. The stamp is SU. I need some pink cheeks on the snowman, but I have yet to find my chalks since the move.

The second was done with Give a hoot. My friend just got it and brought it over to "test". I have to say I have never given that cart a second look, but now that I've looked through it, I think I have to add it to my collection.

SVG tester needed for a Gerbera Daisy file

I had a request earlier for my old gerbera daisy, however, that file has long expired (twice). I have since switched computers (also twice and couldn't find it. I made a new one, but I'm in the middle of moving and don't have my craft area set up yet - only a small fraction of it has made it to the new house yet since I have way, way, way too much stuff and it is going to take several trips back to the old house. SOOO, I'm wondering if someone would like to download it and test it, come back and post how it works?

A couple last minute Halloween Cards with Paper Dolls and Pumpkin Carvings

I was in serious need of some card therapy this morning so I thought I'd make a couple kid cards for todays lunch boxes. The first one is done using paper dolls with the ghost at 5 inch real dial size. I bought the cutest little stamp this summer that says "May Halloween find you in good spirits" (hahaha) and I was determined to get it inked before the holiday was over. The second one was done with pumpkin carvings. So here's a little trick I learned this year (maybe everyone else already figured this out and I'm slow, it took me a year). Last year I cut the pumpkins on the cart, then cut the faces which are in squares and just glued on the eyes/mouth cutouts. This year I found that the square cuts last, so I could cut my pumpkin then move the blade to the center, use center cut and then hit the face key I wanted. It cuts the eyes and mouth, and then I hit cancel before it cuts the square. You can then just cut a second of the pumpkin in yellow to layer under for light. I like that method better than putting the eyes/mouth on top because its more "carved out" looking. It does require you to stand there and watch.
Last I made a quick stack of thinking of you note cards, no cricut, just wanted to use a piece of pretty designer paper I really liked. The leaf is colors with glitter paint, so its sparkly in real life :)

Football candy wrappers

My boys are playing flag football this year and Saturday is their last game. I wanted to make up some goody bags for all the players and I thought some little candy wrappers were in order. To make the wrappers I just used some digital elements from the Are you ready for some football digital scrap kit (Just So Scrappy). I layered the football field paper over a purple rectangle (they are the purple team), added a football, and wrote touchdown. Then I printed them out so that they were 4 x 3 to wrap around a small candy bar. I cut the rectangles then added a strip of glue on either end, wrap around candy bar, and then crimp the end to finish it off -remember that crimper that you bought years ago and never use? Finally a reason to pull it out! I love making personalized candy wrappers with digital elements, quick and cute, but not so cute that your recipient is afraid to eat it because they don't want to wreck it.

Matchbook calender file for 2012

This weeks freebie is a pdf so you can get started on some matchbook calenders. Last years examples are HERE. This year I made them so that you just cut the printed sheet into 12 equal parts. It makes it a bit easier and a little bigger. There are faint lines on the pdf to help you cut. So here's what you do:

Print PDF on 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper
           Cut your cover to 3 by 6 1/4 inch
           Score cover at 1/2 and 3 1/2 inch
           Put in your stack of calenders
            Staple. One staple makes it easier to pull out the calender, but         two looks better, you decide!
Now embellish and your done!

PS: If you want to mark special dates, the eraser on a standard pencil inked on your stamp pad, will make a nice circle over the date.   Sorry, no time to make some cute samples, the house is almost done and its crunch time. Today we put in laminate flooring in one of the boys room. Tomorrow we will do the other one, then move on to the dining and living rooms. BUSY! Thanks for looking!

Fall and Halloween cards to share

My dear friend came over today to "play". Long before marriage and kids, we spent many hours stamping together (she is the one that got me crafting). I recently gave her my original cricut so now she has "the bug" and has started crafting again. It was just like old times today and I had a wonderful time making some fall and Halloween cards. We made a stack of Halloween cards using SU paper and the witch from pumpkin carvings cut at 2.5. We glittered her up to make her sparkle and layered her on some sparkly paper. The fall cards were done using lacy labels, an SU stamp...and a new stack of fall paper from DCWV (ohh, ahh....I love fall, I love paper...new fall stack...HEAVEN!). Thanks for looking!

Bat nuggets with free svg

Its a bit premature for Halloween stuff, but I was at the grocery store and saw these on the cover of the MS magazine (or something similar). Cute! So I came home and made one on my cricut. The svg is below and you can get 7 on a 12x12 sheet. Just wrap the bat body around your Hershy nugget, then add a sticky dot to the wings. I added eyes with a white gel pen, I tried fangs too, but that didn't go as well so I think I'll stick with just eyes. I'm trying out a new file share site. I quit posting many svgs because I seemed to have a lot of problems with mediafire (that, and only 1 in about 100 people who downloaded left feedback so I assume there simply isn't the need for the svg files anymore or others didn't like mediafire either). I'm trying out a new one called box, hopefully it will be a little more user friendly-but its free too, so who knows. The file to test it out is a pumpkin in a corner, drawn in inkscape and has a base, two leaves to layer and two pumpkin sections to layer. I love fall :)

SPUD gun scrapbook page

Carl and the boys got the spud gun finished yesterday and did some shots. Its amazing how far it can shoot the potatoes, probably flew across about 3 acres. It was very cool! The papers and elements are from Echo Park -For the record collection.

Summer here has been crazy busy. I am ready for fall to slow things down a bit. I got out to the craft room today (but only for a few minutes) to get a "crafting fix" and made a couple quick fall cards. I used Straight from the nest for the words and a Martha Stewart punch for the leaves. The leaves on the first one are on pop dots holding the front of the card closed (matchbook style). Paper and buttons are SU.

On another note....I want to give a big THANK YOU to Yolie for the blog candy I won. It was the first time I've ever won any and it was so exciting! Lifes a Beach glitter window card

SPARKLY!

I love the card feature you can find on some of the carts because they are perfect for glitter windows. The cards on this cart are square so I used DS to eliminate the outside cut and then trimmed on my paper cutter to be a standard A2 card front. I also cut the fish out "regular" so that I could layer them in different colors. It would be so nice if when PC made these they would post a sizing guide for layering, such as if cutting 4'' card function, then use 2'' for layering. There only is one of my carts I have found that is easy to do that with (I want to say zoobaloo), but the others you really have to use DS or gypsy. Hydrangea and center step cards

Just a couple cards to share today. First is a hydrangea card I made my Aunt, the flower is an svg which can be purchased HERE. The second card is a center step card, no cricut on this one. I went to my friends today and she had one of these center step cards in her craft room, I loved it and had to come home and make one. This weeks craft project : a picnic table

Just wanted to share this weeks project, DH and I made a picnic table! I just finished the first coat of stain/sealer. One more coat and then it will move over to the land so we can enjoy sit and watch them build our home. I got the instructions here. It took us about 2 hours to cut and assemble, and about $40 in wood/screws/nuts and bolts, and then I'm using sealer I found in my dads shop.Pretty cool, huh?

Today's scrap page is for the sketchythursdays GDS July Challenge layout. It had to include red/orange, something summer-y, and a journal spot. I used a life ring for the circle and switched it to a 2 photo. I made an svg for the doodle swirls, ore, and life ring in inkscape, they are below for one week. The patterned paper is cosmo cricut. FYI, if your doing beach-y photos and you like carts, Life's a Beach is on sale now at Fred Meyers for only $24! I found it last night and picked one up. I had already finished my page, but there are so many cute things on it, I'm sure I will have others watery/summer/boat pages I can use it on. Thanks for looking and for your comments!

Camera overboard :(

Yesterday we went down to the boat to watch fireworks and just as I went to step onto the boat, my camera slipped out of my pocket and down...down....down into the water. I am so sad. I have a good camera but I don't dare take it out of the house because I am a complete KLUTZ. The camera that went swimming was a cannon sd 1300 powershot. I haven't had it too long (my last camera also met an untimely death due to my klutziness). My hubby said I planned it because I didn't like the photos this one took - true I didn't think it took as good of photos as its predecessor Canon sd850 - but I still hate that I just lost a camera. I think I will be shopping ebay for a second hand one. Any suggestions? Tell me your favorite point and shoot please. Camera svg freebie is below for your time.

The boys are now out for the summer, yeah! Notice that Carsten wore the exact same thing on the first and the last day of school, guess what his favorite shirt is? Todays scrap page is for the Sketchy Thursday LO challenge. The paper I bought last time I was in Oregon, it is by Cosmo Cricut (pencils/notebook lines), and Rusty Pickle (blackboard). Cardstock is SU and just LOOK how great my silhouette cut the red cardstock. The star is from George Basic Shapes at 1.25 inch. Thanks for looking and for your comments :)

Cobra vinyl t-shirt

Today I had 45 minutes between finishing chores and time to pick up kids so I thought I would take advantage of it by doing a bit of crafting with my new silhouette. I downloaded a free clip art cobra and cut it on heat press vinyl (silver). It was a bit of a pain to weed, but the whole process was still done by the time I had to leave. The silver looks really cool in person on the black and the silhouette did a great job of cutting every little detail. My son just got home and he loves it!

Cutting little words with a wonderful new toy

I have some projects I want to do that will require some smaller words cut. I have not had the best luck with doing small words with my cricut. To solve this, and to avoid the whole scal/cricut thing, I got a silhouette sd. I still love my cricut and will continue to use it with carts, but for little words and fine detail/svgs I'll use the Silhouette. It came yesterday and I just tried it out....oh my! I can't believe the difference in the cut of words. Right out of the package there was no tearing of paper, no skipped spots, no lop-sided scallops. I haven't done the projects yet, but I had to post this one little word I cut with my silhouette at 1 inch (font is standard cursive, welded, 1 inch for both). I tried cutting the same with my cricut, but with the same paper, I just got a mess. I tried it a second time with paper that I can trust to always cut best on a cricut (you know the kind), and just look at the difference! I still couldn't even get the cricut one off the mat, but you can see from the lines how uneven the letter width is. I can't wait to use it for some vinyl. FYI, my understanding is that you only have until the end of the month to get the free upgrade to scal 3. It loads as a separate file, so you can have scal 2 and scal 3 on your computer. I'm still waiting for them to send me my new code for scal 3, but I hear good things about it so I'm eager to test it out. Its surely got to be easier than this Silhouette software.

Paper Lace Congradulations Graduation card and free digital stamp

It's that time of year again. My boys are counting down the days of school (as are their teachers, no doubt). I made this for my friends son who will be graduating in a few short days. I used paper lace and DS (you can email me if you need the cut file for Design studio), final size of the card is 4.5x4.5. The circle "stamp" was made in inkscape and is available as a png file below. Just open in your favorite editing software or word and print the size you need, it is in outline so you can color in the hat for your school color. I printed mine to fit a 1 1/4 inch circle punch and tied them on with SU ribbons/cord. I used a pop dot under them to keep the tag in the orientation I wanted.

Birthday Roadtrip Scrappage 1

I rarely do two page layouts but this one covered a weekend so it need 6 photos. This is the first page. For the second page, I can't decide if I should put grandmas house at the end of the road (the one from zoobaloo) or a cake (which I had to make myself because in all my carts I only have one with a cake and I used it on another LO). The road is also an svg I made in inkscape. Cake or house? or maybe cake and presents?

Pirate-y Piggy bank block

I went to Oregon last week, and as usual I stopped and my two favorite crafting places: Craft Warehouse and Ikea. The glass blocks were half off (on sale for $4) so I pick up two, one for each son. They are pre-drilled with a two inch hole on the top, so that is what I'm using to put money in and out (this is for saving, so mostly in). For the front I used black vinyl, then white for words and skull. I used Pieces of Eight font - my favorite for pirate-y type things. I wanted to write Carstens treasure, but then the letters were just too small. One the back I just used a square of chalkboard vinyl so he can either keep track of what is inside, or write what he's saving it for. Tomorrow I need to make one with a snake for my other son. Well, the house is sold and we are finally all moved out. We gave up our keys on Saturday. It is sad to leave a home, but also a relief to have that step done. We are set to start on our new home the first week in June- woo hoo! My craft stuff is mostly unpacked and up in its temporary location and I was able to get a crafting "fix" in- even if it was only to do one card. I have the urge to buy a new cartridge but I'm trying so hard to be good, so I spent some time making new seashell svgs instead. Then I made a card to test them. I actually made them for a scrap page I have in mind, but I don't have the photos printed yet, so this was a good test run. The stamp is Stampin Up. SVG (For one week only) LINK EXPIRED

Well the day is almost over and I haven't finished all 12 challenges over at The Pink Stamper, but I did get 5 so far. I posted the first two I did and here are the next three:

Challenge one: Something cupcake themed, I used DCWV, SU, and Cordinations papers. I cut the cupcake from Straight from the nest. The first time I did 2.5 inch, it was too small, so I did 3.5 inch and used the little one inside.

Next, Challenge is something "kid". I made some little pencle toppers. All cut at 1.25 inch, flower and butterfly from SFTN, plane is from United we stand, and snake is from Animal kingdom (Andy is really into snakes right now).

And the last item I did was a pet scrappage (Challenge 10)

My Mothers Day card

Last (sort of) , I have not been crafting because 1: I have been feeling like c*** for the past 2 weeks, and 2: because we sold our house and I've been packing, both have ruined my mojo. I see The Pink Stamper had a HUGE giveaway challenge going yesterday, 12 challenges and 12 prized, along with a grand prize of an image - which I would love but would never buy for myself. My goal today is to make up for the past two weeks by doing all 12 challenges (not in order). My first one was challenge #4, make something Mothers Day themed (good thing to do since I didn't have a card for my mom yet).
So here it is:

For some reason I can't get that photo to turn :( The doily and inside doily shadow is from Paper lace at 4.75 inch and the flower is from Cindy loo at 4. The stamps are from SU and the words I just printed out (font is Diggs my heart).

My second card of the day is for challenge 11, do something with pink, green and black. No cricut on this one, but I did use a cuttlebug and punches, stamp is from Stampin Up.

Straight from the nest HELLO flower cards

Here are a couple cards I did yesterday with Straight from the nest. The first one I did with the regular function (grass with stems) at 2.5 inch and then used different flowers from the same cart at .75 inch. I just used a small alphabet stamp set to stamp hello. The second one I did when I realized that the border function had that same grass with flowers already on it (cut at 3.25 inch). For that one I just stamped the letters and used a small circle punch to cut them out. The second one was quicker, but I think I liked the first one better. Thanks for looking!

Peep in a nest, and a one-layer challenge

I gave my cricut the day off today but I still have a couple things to share. The first is some peep nests. I will admit that while I was laying in bed thinking about this project (am I the only crazy one that even crafts while I sleep?) it was much cuter. I think the nests need to be bigger to get the look I wanted, but they still turned out pretty cute and the kids still seem to like them. I made a batch of rice crispy treats and formed scoops of them in some small bowls, pushing the middle down a bit to form a nest. Once they were formed and cooled, I added a peep and a couple chocolate eggs. I wrapped them in small cellophane bags and used a cute new tag/punch from Stampin Up and some curling ribbon to finish them. Peeps, chocolate, and rice crispy treats....does it get any better?

So I have been following SIMPLICITY for a while now and its gotten me a little bit back to my stamping roots. Today's challenge was to make a one layer card with an old stamp that hadn't seen ink in a while (I have a lot of those). So I made this card for my friend who just painted her house yellow. I did use a stamp that I haven't used in I can't even remember how long. I also used a brand new stamp -spring is in the air- which was last weeks Wednesday challenge. So I did two weeks in one!

Just a quick card and svg to share today. I cut the base from white cardstock using the svg below (available for one week). It imports as a larger card, so I checked the "keep proportions" and then made my height 8.5 inches so that it would fit in an A2 envelope. I stamped with a background stamp and added a strip cut with a MS punch. The flower is from Cindy Loo cut at 2.5, I cut the shadow layer twice and used pop dots between them for dimension. I also added a crystal to the flower instead of the center it cuts - I love sparkle! Thanks for looking!

Altered shutter Spring wall hanging

I found this cute little shutter at the Re-Store for $4 several months ago and have been trying to think what to do with it. Today I decided it was time to get it up on the wall. I cleaned it up a bit with just a damp cloth, then added vinyl to the top and bottom (image from Cindy Loo cart). Then I cut out some words and frames to add to it. The frames I cut also from Cindy Loo at 4 inch. I added bling to each one and a nice Spring-y photo. They are light enough that I can just attach with a small glue dot, so if I get tired of them or want to use if for a different season, they are easy to take off. The flowers are just from a small fake stem from Micheals just stuffed in the shutter. I was going to add a pinwheel or something near the bottom, but its a small shutter so I think I will just leave it for now- don't want to overdue it.

The next one was done with paper lace (flower border cut at 3/4 inch) and SU/sizzix butterflies. The pink, very glittery paper is from the new DCWV Playtime stack, and the top layer of flowers on the borders were also done with dazzling diamonds-so this card *SPARKLES*. Just a quick scrapbook page to share today. The paper is from the DCWV doodle stack. This was my favorite paper from the stack and I was excited to be able to use it with a boy page. The paper came with all the flowers already one it, so all I had to do was add photos, a title and journaling. The title font is blackjack and the journaling was done in LD charming (using PSE8). Chick in an egg card and svg

I saw a cookie cutter like this at Micheals the other day and thought it was so cute that I had to come home and make a similar svg. This is intended for Easter, but yesterday my sister let me go with her to pick out a couple new chicks. I picked a fluffy yellow one for her (and named her Penelope). I can't wait to get started on a chicken coop so I can bring some home too. Anyway, this seemed like a fun card to thank her for a fun little trip to the county. I used thick mulberry for the chick layer, but you could also just use cardstock. The one in the store only had one eye peaking out, so there is only one eye in the file, but then I opted for 2 googlie eyes.

Picking Apples Scrapbook page

Wow, it's been 10 days since I posted, that's a record for me. Why? Because I've been reading a book. That's why I don't read books, once I start, I can't put it down until I'm finished. The housework goes undone, kids get away with just about anything, laundry piles up, and I read. So, it was a good book (Farm City), but today I thought I'd post a new page. These photos were taken last fall, when both the boys were missing front teeth. The tree and flourish are from Cindy Loo, the label is from Lacy Labels, the apple from doodlecharms, the A and P are plantain schoolbook (and the rest of the title/journaling I printed). The paper is from DCWV and SU. The tree apples blend in a bit with the background paper, but less so in person, and it was really the only color that looked good behind the tree - I tried every color under the sun.
Yesterday I ran across some photos that are perfect - at least in my head- for some paper I've been hoarding, so hopefully I can get that page done up this weekend too. I also have a fun little Easter Svg to give away as soon as I can make a card with it...is it too early for Easter?

Minnie Mouse Birthday Card

I rarely use my Disney cartridges - I forget how many cute things are on them. Minnie was cut from the Mickey and Friends at 4.5 inch and the flower frame was from Winnie the Pooh cut at 4.75 inch. I cut Minnie regular, then in blackout, put the regular over the blackout with pop dots and then cut off the top tail to make her stand off the page, like a raised sticker with her tail back a bit. I used Stampin Up paper and stamps, cuttlebug dots embossing folder, and stickles for the centers of the flowers. Thanks for looking!

This is a quilt for my great niece who is turning 1 in a few days. I've never made a quilt before and made lots of errors, but I don't think she will notice. This is my boys last year after watching a bridge building episode of The Magic School. The SOAR is from Straight from the nest, the balloon and clouds were done in inkscape (svg below for one week), the swirly background is from Paperlace. I am on a card making kick today trying to use up some of my sweet stack paper so I can justify buying the new playtime stack. I made several of these "your sweet" cards with a new stamp I got (stampin up), I made a few boy birthday cards, including this one for my little neighbor who turns 6 this weekend, a little cupcake birthday card for my great niece turning one (doodlecharms cupcake, 3 inch.... I know this is simple, but it will go in the garbage quickly), and a fun little "Hi" card for a friend I haven't seen in a while. Now I'm going to go force myself to work on my sewing project again -which isn't going so great since I don't sew. I'm trying to make my niece a birthday gift...we'll see. Thanks for looking!

I'm sure everyone has seen the amazing paper roses over at the DCWV blog and I wanted to give them a try too. I made an svg based on her drawing, but I have to say, no matter how many times I try, I can't get mine to look like hers and I'm ready to give up (purple one). I did really like that the spiral she used had a flat base so I decided to revisit my rolling rose svg post and see if creating a flat base would fix the problem some people had with it cutting funny. I'm liking the new one better, so even if yours cut fine before, you may want to give the new one a try. I'm also going to post the svg to try and make one like the dcwv, you can see their tutorial and blog HERE, or she has the template there to download as a pdf, there is also lots of other great stuff on their blog to peak at -I love to spend time over there. I did some today using the RollingRose2 file and the quickie method and attached magnets to the back so I can put some roses on my fridge. Now I'm going to work on a sewing project, you can see a sneak peak below.....

Super Simple Paper Lace card

Sometimes it is the simplest cards that are my favorites, and I am lovin' this one. This is the flower border from paper lace, cut at 1.5 inch it fits perfect on an A2 cards. One element, one stamp, throw in a few pearls, and poof!

So I want to share a little tip....you know how hard it is to glue those elements that have lots of letters or fine pieces? I always have a hard time getting too much glue or not enough and bits of it come up or I use my zyron and the small spaces end up with sticky covering them..blahblahblah. Well, I bought some spray glue to try and restick my mat. It totally didn't work, but this stuff is perfect for paper! I put my element in a spray station (aka, empty box so it doesn't get everywhere), give it a quick spray, let it dry for a few seconds to tacky stage (instead of wet), then apply. It even gives you a small window for repositioning in case you don't get it right the first time and when you are sure you have it right, give it a firm press in place - its never movin'! I'm thrilled with this stuff, even if it didn't work on my mat. Its also acid free. I hear there is another brand good for mats but I have to order online - grrrr- anyone know one that they sell at Micheals or Joanns? I've tried the 2 way and don't care for that. Thanks!

I'm home! We were in SF last week and I can't wait to do some scrap pages. But first, I really need to make some cards, my stash is low. The first one was all an all punch, no cricut, quickie card. The second one was done with Paper Lace. I did that scallop at 3 and it just shredded, even with a new mat and a new blade and good cutting paper...so I had to move it to 4 inch. I still couldn't see the flowers as well as I like so I punched some with a MS paper punch and added some jewels to make them pop. I'm on a paper lace kick, so yesterday I did a bunch of cuts and hopefully the others will make their way into cards today. Thanks for looking!

A few projects to share

First, todays scrap page. I bought the boys a new cart last week at Micheals (stand and solute on clearance for $10). They had lots of fun making new name signs for their room. Unfortunately, that was the only cart our Micheals had on the clearance. I was really hoping they were going to have a Gypsy or at least a couple of other carts on the sale, but probably for the best that they didn't as I have no self control when it comes to these things. Base paper is from the doodle stack (DCWV) brackets are from Plantin schoolbook, definition stamp is Stampin up.

Next is just a couple cards, same layout for both, the border on the friend card is from Paper Lace cut at 1.5 inch.

For the non-cricut: I made new cushions for my 100 year old chair, it went from dark and stuffy to bright and cheery!

Finally, I found some of these twig balls on clearance but I wanted something else in the bowl so I dug some Styrofoam balls out of the closet. I wrapped one with green yarn to match the table and covered the other two with flowers. I just love how the flowery ones came out. To make them I bough some stems at Micheals (on sale for $1) and cut off the flowers so that they only had about a half inch stem, then stuffed the stems right into the Styrofoam. A bit time consuming, but worth it. It took 3 stems per ball to make it really dense. Thanks for looking!

Valentines Cookie svg freebie

Today I made some "cookies" to hang on my wall. I inked the edges of the cookie base to brown them, and some white puffy paint on top of the writing to make it more like frosting. I think I'll cut some more this weekend and let the kids write on them :) The free svg is down below for the week. Thanks for looking!

A couple of quick vinyl projects today

I have been wanting to make a chalkboard plate for ages but had a hard time finding just the right plate. I found this one at Fred Meyers, then cut out some chalkboard vinyl ( you can buy that atOh My Crafts ), and some olive green vinyl for the edges (from Paper Lace).

My second project is just funny, we are having an open house so we made this for the door. I'm not sure if it will stay, but it will make me laugh for a few days. I've been asked before if the vinyl I use on my door can be reused - the answer is "no" but I buy vinyl on sale and only use about a 6 x 12 piece, so that is only about $1 worth.

A couple of cards I made

I am having oh so much fun making these magical little slider cards! You pull the top layer and a bottom layer pops out to amaze your friends :) The first one I did to send tea to a friend. I used the svg I made yesterday for the teapot. The second one is a birthday gift card using my new paper lace cart - If you are a card maker and going to buy one cart-this is the one! I just got it, they are selling for about $25 with ship on ebay-and it is packed full of fun meshes, borders and verses. I actually can't wait to use some of the meshes for my scrapbooking too. Paper on these cards are from DCWV (Linen closet and sweet stacks...I'm trying to use them up so I can justify buying a couple of the new stacks)

A Quick "For Santa" scrap page

The boys left notes and an apple for Santa, and a carrot for each reindeer. I though it was so cute and a great excuse to use my Jolly Holidays cartridge (I got this a month ago and still hadn't used it!). This is an 8x8 page with Santa cut at 4 inch and the deer at 4.5 inch. Font is Kirsten ITC. I used dazzling diamonds on the reindeer nose and flocking on Sants hat. Polkadot paper is Stampin Up.

Cindy Loo and Lacy Lables friend card

Today's share is a card done with Cindy Loo and Lacy Labels - the Doily is from CL is cut at 4 inch, the friend and the inside(2.5inch)/outside (4inch) frames from LL. The stamp is a new stamp I got from stampin up - well actually its an old retired stamp but new to me. I answered an ad on the craiglist the other day for some older stamps. The gal lived about 1/2 hr away from me but happened to be coming to my neighborhood for a football party. So there we were in the parking lot of the local mini-mark, pitch dark out, about 20 degrees out, two women digging through the trunk of her mini-van-going through stamps. It makes me laugh still to think about how it looked- like the stampers version of some other kind of "deal". Anyway, I like this set because of the verse: May today be a happy memory with the promise of many beautiful tomorrows - which is stamped inside.

Here are my Christmas Thank you cards:

I actually made a bunch of the snowflakes back in Early Dec, so I can't remember what size I cut or even what cart - I think Christmas Solutions. I ran them through the xyron and covered them with dazzling diamonds (if your making one, why not make 20!). Having them all ready ahead of time made assembling thank you cards a breeze -I should make up embellishments ahead of time more often. They are very simple but with the glitter, pop dots and sparkly centers they are still fun in person. Thanks for looking!

Todays little project - Chair makeover

This is not my normal cricut project, but I thought I would share anyway. My mother had this chair in her garage in the going, going, going pile. She's had it forever and it had seen better days-ripped seat and drips of paint all over. I love the little flower on the back though, so I snagged it and thought I'd fix it up a bit. I sanded it down - mostly. I left some of the dark on the edges and creases (see photo 2), partly because I was going for a shabby chic-distressed look, and partly because I was sanding outside in the FREEZING cold and wanted to hurry inside to thaw. Then I put on a layer of Minwax stain and finish. I tore off the old seat cover only to find another underneath - I guess I wasn't the first one to redo it. I stapled on the new fabric, screwed the seat back on and POOF - fabulous new chair. I started about 3 and had it done and back in the house by 6, not to bad. Thanks for looking!

A toybox for Lucy

A few years ago I bought a toybox at a garage sale. It had a bad green paint job but I liked the shape and size and just knew someday I would need it. My good friends sister just had a little girl and we decided it was time to fix up that box and make it super cute. We started by painting it white, then came the vinyl! I used Storybook font for her name at 8 inches in brown vinyl, then did corner flourishes at 6 inches (also storybook). Next we did a branch (Straight from the nest, 4.75 inch) and an owl (Storybook, 4.75 inch) for the front. For the sides we did the deer and squirrel from Cindy Loo (both at 7 inch). I vinyl I used was cricut brown, quickcutz baby pink, and stampin up pretty in pink (on the deer). I wish I could find the original photo of the box before painting, its an amazing difference. I soooo hope Lucy's mommy likes it.

Christmas Cheer Stockings for dinner silverware...and more cards

These little stockings are to put on each plate for Christmas dinner. They are from Christmas cheer, cut at 9 inch. I did them in DS so that I could get two sides on one 12 x 12 and so I could "hide conture" on the toe and heal lines. If you want to use my file I will attach it below. You could do it without ds too, but you might want to use the blackout function or your silverware will come out the heal slit. I tried stitching them on the first one, but decided that was way too much work for a one night use, so I ended up just using my atg gun around the very edges. There is enough room for napkin, knife, fork and spoon, and even a little dinner mint in the toe! I used lucia handwriting for the names (you can cut names, or just print them from the computer), except for the kids, they wanted to write their own names : )

And here are a few "quickie" cards....there is glitter on all the little rooftops, even though you can't see it from the photo, and the poinsettia is from Season of Joy, cut at 2 1/4.

Of all the cards....my least favorite to make is Christmas cards (ok, maybe next to simpathy cards). I don't like doing them because there is just too much other stuff to do. Now if I could make them throughout the year they would be fun to make but...well that would just be too organized. Here are 4 styles I made over the past 2 day. Two are done with SU stamps (the Christmas collage stamps are part of a digital set you can buy for $5), the candy cane card is from Christmas cheer, words at 1.25 and candy at 4. The dove was done in inkscape/SCAL and I'm attaching that file below. Thanks for looking!
