Just a couple cards to share

I have a couple of cards to share today.  The first was made using Straight from the nest (swirl, 4.75 inch, butterfly and flowers, 1 inch, oval/shadow at 4.5).   I did the swirl in shadow and then did the layer in regular to make it stand out.  The butterfly I did in blackout (it was just to intracate at 1 inch to come out the way I wanted on reg) and then on a pop dot -with some glitter of course.  The second was made using scraps from the first, which is from DCWV Linen Closet Stack and my new stamp set from Stampin Up (whimsical words).  Thanks for looking!

Scrap Ribbon Hair Clips

I made these for little neices, they are a great size for stuffing Easter eggs and also a great way to use up some scraps of ribbon. To make them:
Start with two strips of 9 inch ribbon - 1/2 inch or small works best

Fold ribbon and tie with brad or another smaller ribbon -1/4 organza or 1/8 ribbon satin works good, or just stich button.

Glue to ends only of clip.

I used hot glue for some and liquid glue for others, the liquid glue went through the ribbon but only the layer on the clip, so you can't see it (but I know its there). The hot glue doesn't seem as strong, but it has a much better finished look, so....whatever your prefference. They make for a fun, quick project. You can get a set of 12 clips at walmart for $1, so you could make quite a few for an inexpensive gift.

Easter Scrap page and egg 6 pack for SCAL2

These photos were taken when my boys were almost 3 (I wrote 2007, but it was really 2006, oops..I'll have to find a way to fix that). It was thier first time dying eggs and they of course LOVED it. I love the little hand in the glass...who needs spoons, right? The paper is from DCWV Sweet stack, the blue is SU, the bunny is SU stamped/embossed and hand cut, the word EGGS is from the Kitchen cart and the actual eggs are part of a freebie 6 pack for SCAL2. If your doing the eggs, some of the designs are intricate, so I would keep them at 1.5 inch or bigger, do blackout for a base. I was going to post a picture of the six pack, but something is up with blogger and it won't let me do what I need to you'll just have to download to see it.

Confessions of a Paper Hoarder

My name is Shirley, and I am a paper hoarder. I buy pretty paper, but I don't have the courage to use it. I'll buy a whole pretty stack, and only use the papers out of it I like least. Sad. Yesterday I tried to break out of my bad habit a bit and got out my EveryDay Blessings paper pack from PaperTray. I used my new cartridge (Straight from the nest) and stampin up top note die to make a few cards. The grass/stems are from the cartridge cut at 2 1/4. For inside and outside, each card sucked up 4 sheets from my pretty 6x6 stack, it was hard, but worth it, with the pop dots and all those layers, they are thick pure paper yummy-ness. The bunny stamp is stampin up, embossed chocolate on chocolate and hand cut. My challenge for all you paper hoarders for the weekend - you know who you are - is to get out some of that paper, take a deep breath - and CUT!

Straight from the Nest Scrap page and card

I got a new cart in the mail yesterday and although I have other things I should be doing, I chose to play (I've had NO time to play and I'm having withdrawls!) I did an "Even in Pink they are 100% boy" scrappage, and then with my "oops" tree I made a quick card. For the card the tree is at 4 inches and the friend verse is at 3/4 (real dial size ON). For the grass I used a gathered strip of 12 x 3/8 inch paper, I ran a strip of sticky tape on the card, then just pressed the folds into it, no need to sew (why didn't I think of that sooner?). This card is for my friend that was supposed to come visit me today, but she is home with a sick husband and we all know how fun that is. Now its time for me to put things away for a bit, but I'm hoping to get a couple more cards in later today with this fun new cartridge. Thanks for looking!

New Arrival Baby Hanger Tags

We have a new little girl in the family and today I got to go see her at the hospital. I wanted a little "add-on" gift so I made these for her closet. I used New Arrival characters cut at 2 1/4 inch, then used story book to make the scalloped rectangle (3.5 inch) and the tag part (I used DS for that, if you want the file, leave a note, but it was only two pieces from Storybook welded). I added a jumbo eyelet and tied it to a baby hanger with some ribbon. The age tags are printed on the computer (Harrison font at 20pt) in colors to match each tag and punched them out with the Stampin Up word window punch. I used pop dots on the animals and the age labels to give them some life. Thanks for looking!
