Matchbox for your cricut

I've noticed a flood of cute little projects lately using the matchbox (probably because of the new SU die which is $43!), so I thought it was time to make a file. The first one I did in DS (these are GEORGE only), using actual matchbox dimensions I found on the Internet. It is really cute but came out tiny......just like a real matchbox (duh). For my next one I made it 2.5 by 3 inches, perfect for one project I have in mind. For my third try I didn't know what size I wanted, so I did it as an SVG for SCAL. This allows me to make it any ol' dimension I want, however I was limited by the 12x12 space because of the lid on the mat, and also it seamed like when I made it different sizes the wrap wasn't quite right. I figure anyone who has invested in a cricut and ds and scal, probably also owns a paper cutter and you probably know how to cut a rectangle so I removed that part. So the SVG is for the bottom portion of the box only, cut any size you like, all the way to gift box size. then just wrap it in a rectangle around it. These come out great if you use double sided designer paper, very sturdy.

Happy 4th of July - ds cut files

I'm looking at the new Stand and Salute cart - hum, might have to have it. I see lots of use for it for school, my boys (they love to cut things and then make picture collages), and for making cards for my nephew who just went into the army. I think I'll wait for demand to drop down though and in the mean time I made a couple similar images. The first is a 4th title, it is sizable and includes an extra 4 for the top, it is all Plantin Schoolbook. The second is a firework. It is done in George and is not sizable, it is about 3 inches long and includes layers for red firework portion. Files are below. Have a fun, happy and safe 4th!

My newest toy and a strawberry svg

The weather has been beautiful and I've been spending all my time outside, instead of my craft room. Today was the first day I came in and played for a while and I thought I'd try drawing with my new Bamboo Pen Tablet. OMG! What fun! I see lots of possibilities for future svgs. To start, I did a strawberry so I could scrap our trip to the berry fields last week. I cut one to test and it was too big, so I thought I would make it into a quickie card. It was also a good chance to try Scratch and sniff elements . I found many strawberries on the net but I was too lazy to have another layer for seeds so this one has small holes, when cut at true size (about 1.5 inches) the wholes are more like raised bumps (seeds), so no need for another layer. Now to that scrap page.....

My boys at 5, 5 year mesh svg for SCAL

My boys just turned 6, I'm still in shock. They are growing way too fast. I didn't have a "birthday" page to do this year, so instead I did the 5 year page. The mesh is linked if you would like to make one for your kids/grandkids. It is an svg, I did cut it and it cut great, although I ended up doing a digital page because I just couldn't find paper I liked for the journaling strip. If you would like the png file instead for digital scrapping, please email me. Thanks for looking!

More lattice style cards for Cricut, DS and SCAL

I had a request to make a side lattice card and I tried my best to do it in DS, but it had double lines and I just could see how to do it without an enormous amount of time, so these two were the best I could come up with. The are a more traditional single lattice. They are both with George and DS and on a single file, final card size is 4.25 by 5.5. File is : HERE
I was able to do the double lines with SCAL, that one looks like this:

Cricut DS Swing Flip card

There was some talk on the boards of not being able to make a swing card with the cricut. In SCAL this is an easy task, but in DS its a bit more challenging. I like a good challenge so I thought I'd give it a try. This is done in George, baby bug OK. I put the mats on the second page, but included the dimensions, they could easily just be done by hand. For this one I used Stampin' UP Inspired by Nature stamp set. The FAITH charm is metal/purchased, and the bible verse is just printed out. The butterfly is my newest Martha punch. I punched it once out of yellow, then once out of vellum, and tied the two together with black string. I tied the knot at the top so it would look like little antenna (I'm feeling rather cleaver for that :)

If you don't have a cricut and you want to make a swing card, you can find great instructions here (actually good to see anyway, so you can see the scoring at 32 3/4 and 4 1/4):

Cricut Dino Cake

My boys just turned 6! We were going to make a dinosaur shapped cake, but the neighbor borrowed the dino cake pan (4 months ago) and just couldn't seem to get it back to me. I offered to make dinos to put on top and they LOVED the idea. They helped me cut them (they are from paper dolls), color them and then they glued them to sticks. I did mirror images of them, so they could be glued back to back to hide the stick. Then the only decorating I had to do was add some "grass". The boys got to put in the dinosaurs in their cake and poof - quickest cake I've ever made! OK, maybe not the best looking, but they are 6 - they said it was "awsome" and thats all that really matters :) Thanks for looking!
